The PTMA is owned and founded by Nik Hanley (read more about Nik) and Anthony Park (read more about Ant)
Both have built a huge amount of experience within the industry over the past 20 years, delivering thousands of personal training sessions to general population and athletes. Both have owned and managed gym facilities around the world to now delivering courses, seminars and mentoring to over 10,000 Personal trainers.
The combination of the success they have had, experience gained, but more so the natural volume of mistakes along the way has provided both with an opportunity to give back to Personal trainers who need clarity, confidence and a clear plan for their businesses and future.
The approach both take to supporting PTs is very coaching lead, known for not wanting to work with people who just want to be told what to do and have all the answers given to them for that to breakdown in the long term, coaching is a strong value of both of them and to listen to what some of their mentees say about their approach and service click here (Coaches comments)
WHO IS NIK?
“Above all else, the core of what I believe in is coaching people to get themselves into better positions, both in business and in life. By creating the PTMA with Ant, this is what we have done to enable us to help as many people as we can thrive in the industry the right way.”
Starting out in the industry at 17 years old as a gym supervisor in my local college gym I was attending studying Sport and Exercise. When starting my full time career a few years later I spent a chunk of my career travelling while working.
Working on cruise ships as a fitness director which was very much thrown in to the deep of sales, all the way through to living and working out in Australia working in boutique gyms, and corporate sites. The first half of my career was spent self employed and being in varying environments and markets which taught me so much.
But the learnings only really came from me making mistakes and searching for solutions, and I made a lot of mistakes.
The last 10/11 years in the UK working has seen my passion and attention transfer over to supporting personal trainers with their businesses. This organically came about from opening and running gyms up and down the UK and seeing the influx of personal trainers into the industry ill equipped to set up, run, and sustain a financially viable business.
The last 7 years has been in a full-time position heading up all of the support and education for over 10 thousand personal trainers operating their business from the UK largest gym company. Creating weight lose courses that have had over 40,000 people buy and attend, and heavily involved in product design and creation.
Above all else, the core of what I believe in is coaching people to get themselves into better positions, both in business and in life. By creating the PTMA with Ant, this is what we have done to enable us to help as many people as we can thrive in the industry the right way.
WHO IS ANT?
“I love nothing more than now guiding that PT who feels a bit lost, overwhelmed but hungry as fuck to make their business work for them and the people around them.”
First and foremost, I’m very much a family man with two amazing kids and an unbelievably supportive partner, I mention them as I feel if I have had any success in the industry it’s down to them and the drive they given me over the years.
I spent my first 4 years in the industry like most do, no plan, reactive, a bit lost, full of ego and just hoping things would go my way then probably blaming everything and everyone else if they didn’t.
Thankfully the biggest kick up the arse to take this seriously and build a career was having my first child fairly young, this was a big turning point for me a played a big role in me accepting responsibility and ownership for everything I did business wise.
Gradually getting busier in the commercial gym, outsourcing help, doing the courses I always said I would but previously put off I simply put a plan a place and took some action.
I then qualified as a S&C coach worked with elite athletes in a variety of different sports, opened a facility and continued to coach delivering a mixture of 1:1 and SGT.
Alongside the coaching I really enjoyed delivering seminars in the gym and transitioned this from talking to clients to then presenting to PTs and helping more of them out. This led to me writing courses and heading up the development and education for some of the biggest gyms and training providers in Europe.
18 years on I’m still coaching face to face for a few sessions a week, online to a top bunch of lads but more importantly my time is spent coaching you as coaches with your businesses.
I love nothing more than now guiding that PT who feels a bit lost, overwhelmed but hungry as fuck to make their business work for them and the people around them.
